The school at Jaunpils was founded in 1863, as an elementary school with 4 classes. From September 1, 1948 it has the status of a Secondary Shool, the first graduates received their diplomas in June, 1951. By the year 1998 1071 girls and boys have got secondary education in our school. In the course of years it got new buildings. |

In 1938 a new building had been finished for 220 pupils (the architect August Raisters), in 1961 a boarding-hause with 90 places and a gym hall, in 1978 a living block for teachers "Dzīles". The old boarding-house has been rebuilt in orderofusing it as classrooms for the juniors forms (in 1983), but the old school building ("Kalna skola") was rebuilt to place 10 new flats for the staff. Beginning from 1991 the pupils have the possibility of studying subjects chosen by themselves connected with their further education besides the compulsory curriculum. Special courses are available in Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Maths and Agricultural Mechanization, the latter having been tought from 1961. Our pupils take part Olimpiades, devoted to different subjects on district and Republican scale every year, and often they are among the prize winners. The best results have been show in Biology, Geography, Regional History, Home Science, Handicraft, ect. Some pupils teke part in a kind of scientific research work in these subject. |

Our choirs and groups of folk dance have teken part in all Festivals (seven) held in Riga. From 1995 our aerobic groups yearly (in spring) organize a Fesival where guest groups from a wide territory arrive to Jaunpils. The scholl collective has its own song "School Years", words and music by our former teacher Elmārs Helvigs. Jaunpils Secondary School has established good contacts and co-operation with school and cultural institution abroad. Beginning from 1991 yearly students from Copenhagen Pedagogical College are received for practice in our senior classes, our teachers of English have taken courses Denmark. We have got friends in Finland-Soulahti School, Sweden and Lithuania. Exchanges of delegations have taken place several times. The teacher of our school have friendly with the staff of Gripsholm Castle in Sweden. |

Our history is rich in personalities - popular and honoured teachers: Jānis Grīnfelds, Augusts Judovics, Kārlis Ieviņš (a writer), Vilis Jankevics, Jānis Zariņš, Leonards Muzikants, Leonards Žukovs, Elmārs Helvigs, Balva, Zenta Plezere, Rita Vārpiņa, Dzidra Krauča, Jānis Liepiņš - thanks to whose work and devation the school has gained its own character, traditions and style. The present day teachers are rising their qualification, some of them working to get MA grade, acquiring the second specialty, doing scientific research. Our school is taking part in project "Health Encouraging School", supported by the Soros Fund, in the competition for tidy and beautiful school surroundings and other activities |
